World of Warcraft: Making Gold
January 18th, 2008 | by Shintar |In game currency has always been an important part of all MMO games, especially in World of Warcraft as the epic flying mount in the Outlands requires about 5,000 gold, then multiply that with multiple level 70 characters and you can see why gold is needed so much in World of Warcraft.
You can also see why many players are using real money to buy virutal gold. This is not new as Everquest had a huge real world market as well.
I have never brought gold for any game before, mainly because I rather not waste my money, what little of it, for virutal items. Honestly, if I was rolling in money, I would probably just buy everything! But, I am no so I have to do it the old fashison way. I’m no expert but here are some basic gold making tips for those interested. I’ll add more at a later time.
Making Gold from Motes and Primals
Primals are the easiest thing to sell for gold since they are needed by every trade profession. One of the easiest way to get motes are from two vendors in the Outlands. Dealer Najeeb in Netherstorm and Dealer Tariq in Terokkar Forest. The two dealers sell motes of each element for about 16 silver. Single motes, depending on the element and server, usually runs for 1.5 gold to 2.5 gold each, so this is a great deal but they are only for a limited supply per few hours.
Another way, but requires more luck and work, is to check the auction house to see if there’s any motes that are underpriced compared to the finish Primals. If you’re not making more than 50 silvers profit per transaction, I say it’s not worth the time.
The last way, is to simply farm for them. I will list where to farm for each element of motes but I’m short on time at the moment. However, there’s two spots where I like to go if I just want to farm for gold and not a certain mote element. The two spots are the Elemental Plateau in Nagrand and the Hand of Gul’dan in Shadowmoon Valley. Elemental Plateau is a high level spot that requires a flying mount and is quite popular so this place can be war zone on PvP servers. Both spots have a wide ranges of different elementals that roam the area.
