World of Warcraft: Therst’s Hunter Build and 2v2 Arena Guide

Therst, a Hunter on Gorgonnash, posted a tread on the World of Warcraft forums that caught my eye. Apparently, he and his Druid partner is rated 1st on their Battlegroup, Rampage. I can’t comment on how competitive that Battlegroup is but it’s nice to see a Hunter up there instead of the dreaded Warrior/Druid combo.

Therst’s Armory page is here. Therst’s Hunter build is 11/41/9 Marksmanship which is a little different than most Hunter builds I have looked at. You can check out his build here. Therst even tells how to he spec’d his Hunter’s pet, which is nice because I have no idea how to spec my pet.

Pet:
Avoidance, Cobra Reflexes, Frost Resistance (Rank 3), Great Stamina (Rank 3), Growl, Natural Armor (Rank 3), Nature Resistance (Rank 5), Scorpid Poison (Rank 5), and Shadow Resistance (Rank 5).

I like Improved Revive Pet which is quite useful when opponents kill your pet. You get more health and armor from the Beast tree for more survivability. Additionally, I like the 5 points into Improved Arcane Shot, which is rare in many Hunter builds as most Hunters go for Improved Concussive Shot, but Therst’s build is quite nice since Arcane Shot can dispel a buff. But on the other hand, you do lose that stun chance from Improved Concussive Shot, so it’s a toss up on what you feel is more important.

However, Therst’s Hunter build loses Careful Aim and Surefooted which are nice damage boosts, considering most Hunter dual wield with +30 intellent on each weapon, but Therst does make some good points on the pro’s of this build.

What makes Therst’s Hunter guide really stand out, in my opinion, is his in depth strategy guide for 2v2 arena, which Therst goes into detail on what needs to be done against every 2v2 combination, including what your Druid partner should be doing. Now, I don’t know how well his tactics work in a real fight, since I don’t have an arena ready Hunter nor a good Druid partner, but they are quite solid on paper. Anyways, hope this build will help you Hunters out there reach 2000 arena ratings.

If you have an arena ready Hunter, I suggest you take a look at his post found here, which is an excellent Hunter guide on 2v2 arena.
